The right lift starts with the job you need it to do most often. A shop that handles oil changes, brakes, tires, and suspension work has different needs than a collector looking to stack two vehicles in one bay. Get clear on that first, then match the lift style, capacity, dimensions, and installation requirements to the work in front of you.

Start With the Work, Not the Lift Price

A lower purchase price can be attractive, but it should not be the starting point. Consider the vehicles you service now, along with the vehicles you expect to handle over the next several years. A lift that is adequate for compact cars but limits you when a full-size truck or electric vehicle arrives in the bay can slow down the whole operation.

For a professional shop, think in terms of billed hours and bay turnover. The lift should support the services that keep work moving: inspections, undercar repairs, wheel and tire service, alignments, and heavier repair jobs.
